SafeOrbit Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

SafeOrbit ("the App", "we", "our", or "us") is a family safety and emergency coordination app designed to help families stay connected and respond quickly during emergencies. Your privacy is our highest priority. This document explains what data we collect, how it is used, and how we keep it safe.

By using SafeOrbit, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Data We Collect

a. Personal Information

• Apple ID Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and unique identifier from Apple.
• Profile Information: You can add a display name and optional avatar image.

b. Location Information

• Foreground Location: SafeOrbit collects your location only while the app is open and in use to display your position to family members.
• No Background Tracking: The App does not track or share your location when closed or in the background.
• SOS Events: If you trigger an SOS alert, your precise location at that moment is shared with your family members.

c. Device Information

We collect non-identifying device data such as model, iOS version, and battery level (used to display family member battery percentage).

d. Usage Data

We use Firebase Analytics and Firestore logs to understand app performance, crashes, and feature usage. This helps us improve SafeOrbit.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data strictly for:

• Displaying your location to approved family members.
• Sending and receiving SOS alerts.
• Authenticating users via Apple Sign-In.
• Sending push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
• Maintaining app stability and security.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising.

4. Data Storage & Security

All user data is securely stored in Google Firebase Firestore under access rules that limit reads/writes to members of the same family group. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS 1.2+) for all communication.

We apply Firebase Security Rules to prevent unauthorized access and regularly review our data protection settings.

5. Data Sharing

We only share:

• Location and SOS data with your approved family members.
• Aggregated, anonymous analytics data with Firebase Analytics.

We never share personally identifiable data with third parties beyond our trusted service providers (Firebase / Google Cloud Platform).

6. Push Notifications

SafeOrbit uses critical alerts and regular notifications to inform you about SOS events and family updates. You can control notification permissions in your device's Settings → Notifications.

7. Your Rights

You can:

• Edit or delete your profile information at any time in the Settings screen.
• Leave a family or sign out to stop sharing location data.
• Request deletion of all your data by contacting us at info@dmytrovirych.com.

We will permanently delete all personal and location data within 30 days of receiving a verified request.

8. Children's Privacy

SafeOrbit is intended for family use and may be used by parents to monitor their children's location with consent. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13 without parental involvement.

9. Data Retention

• Location data is stored temporarily and replaced by the most recent update.
• SOS event history may be retained up to 90 days for safety audits.
• Account data remains until you delete your account.

10. Third-Party Services

SafeOrbit relies on the following services:

• Firebase Auth, Firestore, and Cloud Messaging by Google LLC (Privacy Policy)
• Apple Sign In provided by Apple Inc. (Privacy Policy)

Each service complies with GDPR, CCPA, and Apple's App Store Review Guidelines.

11. Data Transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence (e.g., in the European Union or the United States). We ensure appropriate safeguards under GDPR Article 46, including standard contractual clauses.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available in the App Store listing and at dmytrovirych.com/safe-orbit/privacy.
